Among the many violin pages that Giulio Cesare recorded with Salvatore Accardo during these years, another masterpiece of the violin repertoire cannot be missing: the complete Sonate and Partite by J.S.Bach.
It should be mentioned that Salvatore Accardo played the Sonatas I, II, III and Partite III with the Stradivarius "Hart", while he played the Partite I and II with the violin Maggini "Giorgio III °"..... an absolute reference interpretation.
Giulio Cesare Ricci chose a medium-sized church as the recording location, the parish church of the Capuchin monastery in Peccioli (near Pisa), whose acoustics perfectly match the music of J.S.Bach.
Another special feature of this disc release is that Accardo played the full version, so Giulio Cesare Ricci had to release the project on two SACDs rather than one.
For the original recording, Giulio Cesare used the legendary Neumann tube microphones U47, U48 and M49.
Recorded in DSD stereo on a Pyramix recorder with dCS A/D and D/A converters.
A state-of-the-art system recorded without any manipulation of the sound, without equalization, without reverberation, without sound compression or expansion... only with natural sound with real timbre.
The combination of Bach's music and Maestro Accardo's interpretation creates a sound wonder of unique purity and expressiveness. This exclusive recording overwhelms us with boisterous fugues and envelops us with dreamy adagios.
The Sonate and Partite for solo violin are of admirable complexity, perhaps designed for a virtuoso of his day, and display abstract perfection and perfect polyphony befitting the violin's strings.
A real pearl in the discography, a unique interpretation.
